Forget Santa’s Sleigh! Uber Connect Could Send Your Christmas Presents

If you’ve opened the Uber app recently, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a new “package” option near the food icon. No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you; Uber is now entering the package delivery space!

Well, to get technical, Uber “entered” the delivery game in April of 2020. That’s when the company first unveiled its Uber Connect feature in a few US cities.

Now that Christmas is just around the corner, Uber decided to expand its Connect feature to about 2,400 cities worldwide. In fact, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi recently nicknamed the Connect feature “UberSanta!” In addition to the USA, some areas of Mexico, Australia, and Canada will be able to use Uber Connect this Christmas.

As the package icon suggests, Uber Connect will take care of parcel deliveries within your select city. According to Uber, there’s no need to spend on postage, and the entire delivery experience will be contactless. As always, Uber does their best to implement customer safety throughout their experience.

Once you’ve prepped your package, you click on the Connect feature, enter your recipient’s contact info, and schedule a delivery. When the Uber driver arrives at your home, place your package in the trunk of the car. You could then track your package’s delivery by viewing it on the app’s GPS.

Please note: you cannot ship items that weigh over 30 pounds with the Connect feature. Uber also advises against mailing anything valued at over $100. A few forbidden items on the Connect platform include drugs, alcoholic drinks, and weapons of any kind.
